What is Flash Memory in Computer?
Flash Memory is a secondary memory so it is a non-volatile type of memory. Which means that it can keep stored the data and information when the power is off. Flash memory works on the EEPROM principle. EEPROM stand for Electrical Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory.
In ROM write operation is only one time and read operation is multiple time means we cannot erase or rewrite but a Flash Memory can be erased multiple times and updated, and programs or data can be integrated into it. This ability is found in USB Flash Drives but Flash Memory also have this ability of electronically reprogrammed and erased.
Types of Flash Memory in Computer
Their are mainly three types of Flash Memory and these are:
1. NAND Flash
This type of Flash Memory have high memory cell density. And because of high memory cell density it has high capacity for data store. This type of flash memory is used in Memory Cards, USB Drives or Solid State Drive (SSD). NAND Flash memory has low power consumption.
2. NOR Flash
This type of Flash Memory is made up of FGMOS or FGMOSFETs. This type of Flash memory is found in some types of memory cards and used for firmware storage in devices. In NOR Flash Memory FGMOS is an electronic component that can contains 0 or 1.
3. 3D Flash Memory
3D Flash memory is the newer type of flash memory. It also has the greater memory cell density than NAND Flash memory. And it is used in high capacity Solid State Drives (SSDs).

Disadvantages
1. Cost: Flash memory can be more expensive per Gigabyte (GB) as compared to traditional Hard Disk Drives (HDDs) for large storage capacities.
2. Limited Write Cycle: Flash memory have the limited number of write cycles which can be a drawback for certain applications.
3. Lifetime: Flesh memory have limited time even though Flash Memory are more resilient than the HDs but they don't have an infinite lifetime.
4. Data in block units: This is the another disadvantage of Flash Memories is that data is rewrite in block units. And every byte must be process individually, which takes a lot of your time.
5. Physical Damages: Flash memories, mostly those who are connected to memory cards, are prone to damage. They can be are easily broken or misplaced.
